I have always wondered how people make a living online in affiliate marketing. Since I love researching things online, I decided to check it out. I have spent quite a bit of time on this project and I think what I have found will be of interest to you. (It was very intriguing to me!)

I have found that the people doing very well in affiliate marketing generally start with these three basic things:
- Strong Desire to Live the “Good Life” – You know all those things you “live” to do when you have some free time or on the weekends? That’s what these people do everyday! They have a strong desire to live life on their own terms, doing the things that they enjoy. Yes, they work at their online affiliate marketing, but they sure don’t do it 40 – 80 hours a week. (I suppose you could if you wanted to, but for me, life is about more than working 24/7. lol) The reasons for wanting to make a living online are many and vastly different from person to person. I’m sure you have reasons of your own.
- Good Affiliate Programs - They know that they need to find good affiliate programs to work with. Affiliate programs do vary in the commissions that they pay out to their affiliates (that would be you). When I started this research project I didn’t have a clue about affiliate marketing. I didn’t know who offered affiliate programs. Let me tell you…Wow! There are way more than I thought and there are some BIG names in there.
- Good Set of Basic Tools – Many, many people start out using free tools. I personally believe that this is the best way to go if you want to try affiliate marketing. (I don’t believe in spending money that you don’t have, or that you need for food, rent or bills.) There are also options for people with a little money to invest just to get them started. There seem to be a few very good “how-to” guides out there. (I’ll tell you about them later.) Some people like to jump right in and purchase some basic tools to really help them get going faster. Those are available also. The tools that I have checked out seem to be helping the people that use them quite well. (Read: it saves them a lot of time.)
Making a living online with affiliate marketing is something that appears to be very doable for anyone willing to put in at least some amount of effort. I think most of us can relate to the “strong desire” to do our own thing - - everyday! (I sure can!) Finding a good affiliate program can be a daunting and frustrating task!
In my next post I will share some of the programs I found to be honest, doable and profitable. Finding good, easy-to- use-tools is a pain in the axe! It was rather hair-pulling researching the tools alone. (There are a lot of crooks out there.) The tools that get the job done in affiliate marketing are indispensable.
Like, I said earlier, many, many folks use free tools. Others use tools that they buy once and own, some use tools that they subscribe to. I will share those tools with you all in another post. The choices are there for every level of entry. If you decide you want to make a living online with affiliate marketing, realize that you can do it and you don’t have to go broke in the process!
